Ocean Bowl
The Ocean Bowl team is a Nationally recognized academic competitive team that uses buzzers and follows a jeopardy-style game focused on marine science questions. Each team member will have a topic to focus on between the 8 topics: Biology, Chemistry, Physical, Geology, Geography, Marine Policy, Social Science, or Technology. It is a lot of independent studying at home or with your teammates but we have fun when we are together. Visit www.nosb.org to find out more information about the competition.
Meeting times:
We start try-outs in early October and you must be currently enrolled or previously enrolled in a Marine Science 1 or 2 course to tryout. We meet every Wednesday morning from 8am-8:40 in room 3-216 and will add another morning during 2nd semester. The meeting schedule is made up with everyone’s input. During meetings we learn about new topics, research in the library or review using the team buzzers. Our Regional competition is usually the end of February/early March. This year’s competition is down at the University of Miami. We will scrimmage against Heritage HS before the competition.
